The Over 50’s Ballroom Dancing Club Inc. has been holding dances North or South of the river almost every Thursday for over 25 years. These dances are usually week about in each of our two current venues being the Exhibition Centre, Cannington and Stirling Leisure Centre, Karrinyup.
Our club aims are to promote and encourage ballroom dancing; promote mental and physical fitness; encourage companionship, friendship and support etc.
Our program varies weekly being selected from some 70 dances on our list, containing mostly sequence dances in all the Modern and Latin Ballroom Rhythms. Some freestyle dances are included, as are occasional ‘fun’ and line dances. Our DJ’s provide a very pleasant wide variety of ‘strict dance time’ music to keep our members moving and enjoying the sociable atmosphere.
Every week we have an accredited teacher give a one-hour lesson on a sequence dance which we ensure is taught at both venues. The lesson starts at 11:15am and the dance proper goes from 12:30pm to 15:30pm with a short tea break at14:30pm.
We have in the region 120 to 150 dancers each week but there is certainly still room for more.
